This Thursday come out to show your support for Rock The Vote! Print this flyer and get half off the cover at the door.
The artists performing recognized that during this historical time of heightened politics and economics, a desperate era of change and the November elections drawing near, that now my be a good time to stand up and say something, or do something in good faith for the general public. Instead of organizing a formal rally, protest, or preachy gathering- they thought it would be more appropriate to celebrate politics and empowerment through music; A non-bias party to salute to change.
As a result “Play for the People” was created to bring together the younger voters and celebrate through rock-n-roll, stiff drinks and good laughs. Originally the show was organized to also assist voter registration, but the date of the show is scheduled post deadline-however Rock the Vote still supports the cause.
Now these fine musicians are bringing to you a Woodstock part 2, only on a much smaller scale, and in a funky cool section of Brooklyn. “Play for the People” will start at 10 p.m. and go until 4 a.m. on Oct. 16, 2008. It will be held at the chic bar & night club, Public Assembly formally known as the Galapagos Artspace, at 70 North 6th St. in Williamsburg. This hipster neighborhood is planning on getting down all night with some of Brooklyn’s hottest bands. It doesn’t matter what your views are on politics, which party you claim to be, what matters is change. Perhaps ……this is just a celebration that George Bush is soon to be out of office!
